Description
This 1977 Chevrolet Camaro Type LT stands out as a remarkable example of classic American muscle, meticulously transformed into an impressive street machine. The vehicle features a solid foundation with only 43,000 original miles, rust-free body panels, and the original factory black paint. Its interior is a well-preserved deluxe cloth Firethorn red, complemented by a factory manual transmission and a striking color combination of black exterior and Firethorn interior.

Exterior:

The Camaro maintains its original body panels and floors, with the exception of a newly installed custom fiberglass L-88 hood. The hood is supported by newly powder-coated hinges, light springs, chrome latch, and custom hood pins. The car retains much of its original factory paint, which has been touched up in places and remains in excellent condition for its age. The original parking lights, turn signals, and tail lights function properly, and the trim and brightwork are original, save for the updated nylon mylar roof rail moldings. The car features original factory aluminum bumpers with bumper guards, and the doors close securely with factory gaps. The original glass is in excellent shape and operates smoothly.

Interior:

The interior is a time capsule of the factory deluxe Type LT cloth, in exceptional condition. Enhancements include a Hurst shifter, a custom pinstriped shift knob, custom red digital gauges, and Hurst Supercar floor mats. The gas, brake, and clutch pedals are like new, and all factory gauges, lights, and the AM/FM stereo function perfectly. The rear window defogger is also operational.

Chassis and Undercarriage:

The Camaro is equipped with four-wheel disc brakes and features a completely rust-free and detailed subframe, enhanced with red Energy Suspension polyurethane bushings. The custom round tube frame connectors are powder-coated in black and neatly tucked. The front suspension includes BMR red powder-coated tubular control arms, coilovers, and a powder-coated oversized sway bar with poly bushings. The rear suspension features new 1.5-inch drop multi-leaf springs, poly bushings, and Competition Engineering adjustable shocks. The factory 10-bolt rear axle has been upgraded with performance components, including a rear disc brake setup originally found on 10th anniversary 1979 Trans Ams. The exhaust system comprises a stainless 3-inch setup with an X-pipe and chambered mufflers, delivering a deep, resonant tone.

Drivetrain:

Under the hood, the Camaro boasts a 454 Mark IV Big Block Chevy engine, bored out to 468 cubic inches. It features a polished crank, forged pistons, and Chevrolet Performance Parts aluminum heads. The engine is equipped with a hydraulic roller cam and lifters, high-output water pump, and a custom aluminum radiator that maintains optimal temperatures. The engine is paired with a Tremec wide-ratio 5-speed transmission, offering both excellent acceleration and comfortable highway cruising. The drivetrain is completed with an 11-inch Centerforce clutch, a Quick Time scatter shield, and a custom steel driveshaft.

Wheels and Tires:

The Camaro rides on rare Vision “Hurst” Dazzler wheels, measuring 17x8 inches with a 4.5-inch backspace, wrapped in new Nitto NT 450 tires (225/50/17 front, 275/50/17 rear). These wheels fit perfectly within the Camaro's wheel wells, enhancing its stance and performance.

Overall:

While this Camaro is not a concours show car, its outstanding appearance and mechanical excellence make it a standout at any cruise night or car show. With only 150 test miles, it performs flawlessly, offering a driving experience that blends classic style with modern performance.
