We are excited to present this 1976 Pontiac Trans Am, equipped with a 400 cubic inch engine and a four-speed manual transmission, both of which are original to the vehicle. This Trans Am, which has remained with just two owners until 2021, is in exceptional unrestored condition and retains its factory components. The car features what is believed to be mostly original paint in the distinctive Carousel Red, a pristine stock interior, and numerous original dealer booklets and brochures. Notably, the original engine and transmission remain in the car. The exterior paint, a color unique to 1976, is complemented by the original black vinyl interior. The undercarriage of this Trans Am is in remarkable condition, retaining much of its original red oxide primer, with no known patches or touch-ups and no visible corrosion.
Exterior
The Carousel Red exterior is in superb mostly unrestored condition. The paint is believed to be original, with some touch-ups and color-matched repairs on rock chips. Overall, the paint remains in good condition with no visible rust and both bumpers are intact. There may be minor imperfections that are not visible in the photos, but nothing significant has been omitted. The tires are nearly new, sized 255/60/15, and were replaced approximately a year and a half ago. The new Rally II wheels, 15×8 inches, were also purchased around the same time. All weather stripping and window sweeps are in good, usable condition. The trunk is solid and clean, featuring the original space saver spare tire, jack, and trunk mat. Even the original rear speaker insulation box is still intact.
Interior
The black vinyl interior is in excellent, largely original condition. The seat covers appear to be original and are in superb condition, showing no major wear. The carpet is in good overall condition, free of significant stains, rips, or holes. The original dashboard is in excellent shape, with no fading, warping, or cracks, and the dash bezel is also well-maintained. The original stereo and 8-track player are still functional, and the dashboard remains unmodified for modern audio systems. The door panels appear to be original and are in great condition, with both door pulls intact. The headliner and package tray are in excellent condition. All interior lights and gauges function correctly, except for the clock. The horn, wipers, stereo, rear defroster, and blower motor are all operational. This Trans Am has not been smoked in and has no unpleasant odors.
Mechanical
Mechanically, this Trans Am is in outstanding condition, featuring the original Pontiac 400 engine and the original four-speed manual transmission. Recent updates include a new fuel pump and rubber fuel lines, a fully serviced brake system with a new brake booster, master cylinder, calipers, pads, wheel cylinders, and brake hoses. The emergency brake has also been replaced. Additionally, a new alternator, fan clutch, spark plug wires, spark plugs, vacuum lines, belts, filters, and headlights have been installed. A heavy-duty clutch was fitted approximately 4,000 miles ago. This car has been driven numerous times and performs exceptionally well, maintaining proper temperatures and providing a smooth, enjoyable driving experience. The video demonstrates the car running and driving without excessive rattles or noises, showcasing its handling and performance. The Trans Am starts promptly, idles smoothly, and runs excellently with no smoke on startup or while driving. The brakes have been serviced and perform reliably, and the newer Flowmaster exhaust system delivers a remarkable exhaust note at idle and cruising speeds. The engine bay, being a factory non-A/C model, is clean and contributes to the car's overall performance.
